About the role
HFNY seeks a galvanizing, relationship-driven, and strategically courageous individual to serve as Manager of Program Partnerships. This role is the primary relationship owner for a portfolio of 16–20 HFNY affiliate nonprofit partners.
Primary responsibilities
- Affiliate Relationship Management (40%): Serve as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of 20–25 HFNY affiliate partners, maintain consistent communication and meaningful touchpoints throughout the year, conduct annual partnership planning meetings, assess affiliate health, program quality, and volunteer engagement, connect affiliates to HFNY's full ecosystem of resources, and maintain up-to-date affiliate records and data.
- New Partner Development & Expansion (25%): Lead the vetting and onboarding of new affiliate partners, cultivate a robust pipeline of prospective affiliates, screen and prioritize prospective partners, develop new strategic external partnerships, and track and report on new affiliate pipeline metrics.
- Program & Coalition Initiatives (25%): Inform the annual grant review process, support the grant application process, monitor mid-year and year-end grant reporting, contribute to the design and delivery of capacity building programming, support affiliate participation in HFNY's collective action initiatives, and provide input to organizational strategy.
- Affiliate Engagement & Communications (10%): Manage and distribute a regular affiliate email newsletter, maintain and develop HFNY's affiliate knowledge base, administer and moderate HFNY's affiliate Google Group, and gather feedback from affiliates on communication and resource needs.
Job qualifications
- Deep commitment to serving the poor and marginalized; personal alignment with HFNY's Christian faith mission
- 5–7 years of professional experience in nonprofit program management, grantmaking, capacity building, consulting, community organizing, or a related field
- Courage to serve as an active partner: comfortable bringing ideas, challenging assumptions, and recommending concrete solutions rather than simply facilitating or managing
- Strong strategic thinking: able to assess an organization's stage and situation and identify the levers most likely to drive growth and impact
- Proven ability to manage relationships with diverse stakeholders — nonprofit leaders, community partners, and internal teams — with warmth, professionalism, and integrity
- Experience with organizational assessment, program evaluation, or rubric-based review processes is strongly preferred
- Strong project management skills; able to hold multiple workstreams simultaneously, set priorities, and follow through reliably
- Comfort with data: able to track outcomes, manage reporting systems, and use data to inform recommendations and communicate impact
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; confident facilitator and presenter
- Self-starter who thrives in a collaborative, mission-driven environment and takes initiative with solutions
- Familiarity with New York City's nonprofit sector and faith-based community strongly preferred
- Proficiency in Salesforce, Asana, Fluxx, or similar CRM/project management platforms is a plus
Our core values
- We are motivated by our Christian faith: Our desire to serve the city and seek the flourishing of every New Yorker is based on the Christian call to love and provide for our neighbors in need.
- We love our city: New York City is one of the most diverse and vibrant cities in the world, yet it is also full of brokenness, injustice, and inequality. Our work is motivated by our desire to see our city renewed and restored.
- We care about the whole person: We believe that true flourishing can only happen when an individual's spiritual, social, and economic needs are met, and we work with partners who seek the same outcome.
- We can't do this work alone: Fostering community and collaboration are at the heart of everything we do because we know that we are more effective when we work together. Our role is to catalyze the success of all of our partners.
- We build relationships based on trust: Trust is essential to creating authentic, thriving, and lasting relationships, which empowers our partners to achieve their goals.
- We are innovative and data-driven: Solving hard problems often requires taking risks and trying new things. We use data to measure outcomes and inform decisions, which is critical to maximizing impact.
