About the role

The Manager, Power Supply is responsible for executing Aligned’s wholesale power supply strategy to support data center load growth across the U.S. This role leads energy and capacity market transactions and structures, negotiates, and manages power supply agreements (including PPAs, shaped/firm energy supply, capacity products, and transportation/transmission arrangements) with utilities, developers, and power marketers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead wholesale power market transactions and portfolio strategy to meet load, cost, risk, and sustainability objectives.
  • Structure and negotiate energy and capacity supply agreements including PPAs, tolling/hedge structures, shaped and firm/full requirements products, and related long-term procurement arrangements.
  • Develop and execute sourcing plans across ISO/RTO and bilateral markets, identifying cost-competitive opportunities based on fundamentals, congestion, basis, and shaping needs.
  • Apply expertise in market rules, capacity mechanisms, and regulatory constructs (tariffs, interconnection/queue dynamics, deliverability, resource adequacy) to inform procurement decisions.
  • Support negotiations for transportation, transmission, and related deliverability arrangements (e.g., wheeling, network/point-to-point service, congestion hedges) as needed to support physical delivery and risk management.
  • Partner with Strategy & Development and Utility Infrastructure teams to align wholesale and retail supply strategy with site selection, utility service, interconnection, and energization schedules.
  • Manage counterparty relationships with utilities, developers, IPPs, and power marketers; manage RFP processes and competitive solicitations.
  • Cross-functionally to model deal economics (energy, basis, capacity, REC), support budgeting/forecasting, and align contract terms with financial objectives.
  • Partner with Legal to draft, review, and negotiate term sheets and definitive agreements; ensure contracts address credit, collateral, change-in-law, curtailment, force majeure, and performance obligations.
  • Maintain portfolio exposures and compliance (volume, shape, basis, congestion, capacity/RA, renewable attributes) and recommend hedging or optimization actions.
  • Monitor market, regulatory, and policy developments (ISO/RTO rule changes, state programs, FERC actions) and assess impacts to procurement strategy and contract value.
  • Develop internal materials (investment memos, approvals, and executive summaries) that clearly communicate transaction rationale, risks, and expected outcomes.
  • Present procurement recommendations, portfolio performance, and market outlook to senior leadership; support Board-level updates as needed.
  • Ability to travel up to 20%.

Requirements

  • Strongly Desired: Working experience and knowledge of structuring, negotiating, and managing wholesale power supply contracts (e.g., PPAs, energy/capacity products, and related commercial terms).
  • 7+ years’ experience in power procurement, energy trading, portfolio management, or commercial origination, with strong knowledge of ISO/RTO and bilateral electricity markets, capacity mechanisms, and applicable regulatory frameworks.
