About the role

We are committed to delivering safe, reliable service that gets customers to their destinations on time, and we're looking for a Manager of Point-of-Sale and Fare Collection Systems to oversee the operations, maintenance, and optimization of our point-of-sale and fare collection systems.
Responsibilities
- Manage the design, development, testing, implementation, and support of 24/7 Point-of-Sale (POS) and fare collection systems for NJ TRANSIT.
- Develop and monitor project plans for all assigned systems and report status to the Director of POS and Fare Collection Systems.
- Track operating and capital project budgets and monitor project progress.
- Manage and coordinate the activities of assigned personnel and provide technical assistance as needed.
- Coordinate project tasks between POS managers, fare collection supply vendors, and other NJ TRANSIT departments.
- Participate in various committees and project groups to maintain quality assurance standards and up-to-date POS technology, both internally and interagency.
- Identify and procure hardware/software, consulting services, and application development tools to implement new systems and expand existing production systems.
- Perform required business and functional requirements for new system requests, as well as enhancements to existing systems.
- Define needs for new POS and fare collection systems as necessary, develop technical specifications, research new technologies, and recommend purchases of new hardware, software, and maintenance plans.
- Monitor selected vendor performance and direct their efforts and personnel as they develop new POS and fare collection systems for NJ TRANSIT.
- Provide technical guidance and act as a liaison to user departments for the coordination of equipment installations, implementations, and end-user training.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business management/administration, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related area, or equivalent experience.
- Seven (7) years of applied experience in fare collection/revenue systems projects, with at least three (3) years of supervisory/managerial level responsibility.
- In lieu of a degree, one year of related business experience may substitute for each year of education required.
