About the Role

As the Manager of Patient Safety and Risk at Glendale Memorial Hospital and Health Center, you will oversee the facility's Patient Safety Program, including the Patient Safety Plan requirements for the collection, analysis, and reporting of events and patient safety data, investigation of events and near misses. You will ensure all accreditation and regulatory requirements for patient safety are fully met. Daily, you will participate in system office initiatives and programs to mitigate identified risks, resulting in reduced costs, reduced adverse patient outcomes, and safer patient care. You will coordinate claim team requests and collaborate with other key stakeholders to implement learnings from claims, and spearhead the coordination of all legal documents related to hospital liability.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Patient Safety Program, including collection, analysis, and reporting of patient safety data.
  • Investigate events and near misses to ensure compliance with accreditation and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in system office initiatives to mitigate identified risks, reducing costs and adverse patient outcomes.
  • Coordinate claim team requests and collaborate with stakeholders to implement learnings from claims.
  • Manage all legal documents related to hospital liability, including subpoenas, Summaries, and Complaints.
  • Educate and communicate effectively with teams, physicians, committees, and senior management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, or five (5) years of related job or industry experience in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of risk management, patient safety, and/or other related professional experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience managing/supervising employees and/or vendors.
  • Experience with event reporting processes, root cause analyses, and event investigation/review.
  • Experience with patient complaint/grievance investigations and prompt resolution.
  • Knowledge of risks faced by patients in a healthcare environment and ability to reduce these risks.
  • Familiarity with legal documents related to hospital liability.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local healthcare-related laws and regulations.
  • Experience with risk and the implementation of HPI and cause analysis.
  • Strong professional, organizational, and interpersonal skills for working with teams and senior management.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written), including the ability to present data concisely to leaders, clinicians, and staff.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
