About the role
The Manager on Duty leads by example and provides front-line support to the public at the Erie Community Center and Ballpark at Erie. As the first contact for customers both in-person and over the phone, you will relay accurate and timely information, demonstrate accountability, and take ownership of guest service duties.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Coordinator or Assistant Coordinator in daily recreation and facility operations.
- Act as the Manager on Duty, including opening or closing the Erie Community Center, Coal Creek Ice Rink, and Café.
- Greet guests, process memberships, and handle registrations for activities.
- Ensure the facility is ready for daily use: stock consumables, check cleanliness, and perform safety checks.
- Submit work orders and monitor the Facility Calendar to ensure events and programs run smoothly.
- Conduct facility tours and provide up-to-date information about programs.
- Enforce rules and policies to ensure guest and participant safety.
- Respond to incidents, emergencies, and administer first aid, CPR, or other medical attention as needed; complete incident reports.
- Attend staff meetings and trainings; may assist with training staff.
- Maintain work areas, supplies, and equipment to ensure a safe and sanitary environment; order supplies as needed.
- Complete paperwork, including daily records, logs, and incident reports.
- Maintain frequent communication with staff and report issues to supervisory staff.
- Process payments, adhere to cash handling policies, balance cash registers, and complete daily cash reports.
- Serve as a professional ambassador for the Town, maintaining a collaborative and ethical approach.
- Inspect facilities and program areas for safety; report concerns as needed.
- Interpret, communicate, and enforce all Department, Town, County, State, and Federal policies.
- Complete required safety trainings and ensure staff compliance.
- Develop and accomplish goals supporting the Department and Town mission.
- Assist with set up and tear down of equipment for classes and rentals.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of 18 years of age.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- One year of related customer service, recreation, or equivalent experience; a combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Ability to obtain CPR, First Aid, and AED certification within three months of employment.
Schedule
Consistent availability in one or more of these areas is highly desirable. Exact schedules and hours may vary based on operational needs.
- Early Morning Shifts: Monday - Friday, starting as early as 4:45 am to 9:30 am.
- Evening Shifts: Monday - Thursday from 4:45 pm to 9:15 pm and Friday from 2:15 pm to 7:15 pm.
- Weekend Availability: Saturday and/or Sunday morning, afternoon, and evening shifts.
