Manager of Strategic Events (Remote)
About the role
As a Manager of Strategic Events, you will lead the planning, execution, and strategic oversight of high-impact events. This is a critical client-facing role that requires both operational excellence and sophisticated business insight. You will serve as a trusted strategic partner, handling sophisticated, senior-level engagements while driving growth opportunities and operational improvements across our Global Business Travel platform.
What You'll Do
Strategic Leadership & Client Partnership
- Develop, plan, and flawlessly execute sophisticated, senior-level events that reflect the caliber and expectations of a Fortune 100 client
- Serve as the primary strategic advisor on meetings strategy, process optimization, and technology infrastructure decisions
- Build and maintain positive relationships with key partners, demonstrating deep understanding of client objectives and business priorities
- Identify and unlock growth opportunities within the account while maintaining the highest standards of service delivery
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Execution
- Facilitate seamless collaboration across diverse Amex GBT entities to ensure cohesive, coordinated event delivery
- Lead all collaborator calls and maintain awareness across event portfolios to ensure alignment and quality
- Provide mentorship and guidance to travel support agents on group communication and travel logistics
- Support US time zone coverage for multi-event coordination and customer inquiries
Operational Excellence & Commercial Competence
- Lead end-to-end event operations including pipeline updates, spend monitoring, and infrastructure planning
- Drive process improvements in partnership with Global Services teams, identifying efficiencies and standards
- Coordinate room block negotiations and logistics with hotel partners across the Americas
- Establish and maintain comprehensive reporting frameworks; lead data integrity and partner communication
What We're Looking For
- 8+ years of customer-facing responsibility with Fortune 100 organizations, with shown success leading sophisticated, high-stakes relationships
- Demonstrated expertise in events planning and delivery at a senior level
- Deep knowledge of business travel operational processes, industry practices, and commercial dynamics
- Strong commercial acumen with ability to navigate sensitive client relationships and strategic account considerations
- Outstanding ability to collaborate across functional areas, geographies, and cultures with tact and influence
- Consistent track record of delivering results under pressure while maintaining quality and client satisfaction
- Outstanding time management and problem-solving skills with ability to balance multiple priorities
- Outstanding communication and relationship-building abilities with both internal teams and external partners
- Strategic attitude with ability to balance operational execution with business development opportunities
Location
United States. Candidates based in Eastern timezone will be strongly preferred based on business needs.
Pay
The US national base salary range for this position is from $88,200.00 - $163,800.00. The national range provided includes the base salary that Amex GBT expects to pay for the role. Actual base salary will be based on factors including the scope and complexity of the role and the successful candidate's relevant experience, skills, knowledge, and work location. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, which rewards participants based on company and individual performance.
