About the role
The Strategic Events Manager oversees the organization, management, and event support for all university events. They work closely with the Strategic Events team, the University of Idaho Foundation, University Events, and the President and Provost offices. The position involves providing event support and guidance, ensuring all events advance the university's brand, organizational objectives, and development strategies.
Responsibilities
- Project management of executive-level university events
- Maintain operating budgets
- Sourcing and managing external suppliers and vendors
- Serve as communication, marketing, and guest services specialist for events
- Manage and analyze event data
- Manage and coordinate unified communications for events
- Cooking and serving as an expert resource for the campus event registration system
- Coordinate and collaborate with internal and external staff, faculty, and volunteers
- Collaborate with internal departments
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Three years of event leadership and management experience, including:
- Development and implementation of programs, activities, and large-scale projects
- Conceptualizing, coordinating detailed plans, and following through to meet deadlines
- Executing outcome-based events that promote or advance a brand and/or support organizational objectives
- Managing multiple projects and events with competing timelines
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Willingness to travel and work extended hours with a flexible schedule, which may include weekends and holidays
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet U of I driving requirements
- Knowledge of event industry standards, best practices, and trends
- Experience in fundraising or advancement
- Exceptional verbal and written communication and editing skills
- Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail and meticulous organizational skills
- Experience using Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) technology and event management software
- Two years of project management experience
- Experience in operational efficiency and optimal use of resources; an aptitude for using data and metrics in decision-making; the ability to plan, monitor, and tightly manage a budget
- Demonstrated ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanor in a high-stress environment, identifying and independently resolving problems swiftly
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Ability to move about and between venues for extended periods of time up to a full day of work
- Ability to lift, carry, or otherwise move materials up to 25 pounds

Pay
$28.83 per hour or higher commensurate with experience
