Manager of Accounting

About the role

The Manager of Accounting oversees the collection and recording of financial data and transactions. This role involves hiring, training, and managing accounting staff, assisting with budget preparation, and performing various financial functions.

Responsibilities

• Prepares, compiles, and analyzes financial data in support of monthly loan draws and financial reporting packages for submission to business partners.
• Reviews and ensures compliance with internal and external requirements for reporting packages, investigates unusual variances, and resolves discrepancies promptly.
• Collaborates with the Senior Director to coordinate, review, and distribute reports for senior management and other departments.
• Collaborates with the Senior Director to update and maintain project proformas using monthly data and inputs from other internal parties, assisting in projections as assigned.
• Leads the preparation of year-end financial statements and footnotes, and updates the footnotes for all relevant disclosures, including new disclosures required by GAAP.
• Stays current with the latest Accounting Standards Updates (ASUs) issued by the FASB and incorporates the impact of the latest ASUs into the financial statements and footnotes.
• Coordinates with property management and asset management to ensure timely and accurate delivery of reports.
• Reviews and approves variance analysis for military branches and responds to all inquiries from military, Hunt Asset Management, and other internal and external parties.
• Collaborates with Hunt Property Management for all matters related to the properties, including assisting on-site bookkeepers with revenue journal entries, preparing annual budgets, and providing data for financial analysis.
• Liaises with Hunt Corporate Accounting on monthly, quarterly, and year-end consolidation issues, including intercompany reconciliations.
• Provides prospective fee and cash flow projection data to assist in debt coverage analysis.
• Identifies and liaises with the Senior Director to account for complex accounting transactions related to military housing properties that require special treatment.
• Collaborates with Corporate Accounting to document significant transactions within the Military Housing Accounting group, ensuring clarity for PPP auditors.
• Supervises team members in all tasks and provides coaching and mentoring to enhance their development.
• Documents and reports any control deficiencies identified.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required
• 4-6 years accounting experience, preferably corporate accounting and reporting required
• Strong knowledge of the chart of accounts, general ledger, trial balance, financial statement preparation, GAAP, and internal control policies and procedures required
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Management ability to direct, guide, motivate, and develop staff
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to define problems and organize efficient solutions, analyze data, and draw valid conclusions
• Strong computer skills and proficiency with MS Office applications
• Advanced working knowledge of MS Excel is required
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Displays teamwork by balancing team and individual responsibilities
• Knowledge of JD Edwards E-1 and Yardi is a plus
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred

Final salaries will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, licenses, certifications, and/or experience. In addition to these factors, we consider internal and external factors as a part of every final offer.
