Manager of Accounting
Georgia-Pacific LLC is seeking an experienced leader to join our team as the onsite Manager of Accounting for our Cellulose mill in Brunswick, GA. This role provides accounting ownership and drives value through innovation, process discipline, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced environment.
About the Role
As the onsite Manager of Accounting, you will be a valued member of the facility leadership team, partnering closely with the facility finance leader and operations leadership. This visible and collaborative role requires a regular weekly onsite presence, with preference for local applicants or those willing to relocate. You will leverage advanced accounting and finance knowledge, technology, analytics, and AI-enabled tools to improve work, strengthen decision-making, and create value across mill systems.
Responsibilities
- Own the financial statements, month-end close process, and control environment.
- Collaborate with mill and business teams to drive process adherence and hold facility teams accountable for activities that drive accurate financial results.
- Apply a risk-based approach to the application of accounting policies and financial controls.
- Implement transformative processes and eliminate non-value-added activities.
- Leverage AI-enabled tools, automation, and data analytics to improve month-end close activities, financial insights, reconciliations, controls monitoring, and routine accounting workflows.
- Partner onsite with Accounting Centers of Excellence (Internal Financial Controls, Capital, Inventory), the offshore accounting team, and external auditors.
- Drive change with a focus on innovation, process improvement, and problem-solving.
- Identify practical use cases for AI and digital tools to reduce manual work, improve accuracy, and support faster, better business decisions.
- Advance the Principled Based Management® (PBM®) culture by applying and reinforcing the company’s Guiding Principles.
- Act as a decision-maker, seek and share knowledge, and respectfully challenge the status quo.
Requirements
- Career experience in accounting, cost accounting, financial analysis, operations finance, or related roles demonstrating a professional understanding of accounting and financial concepts, including cost accounting principles.
- Collaboration and contribution mindset with the ability to build effective working relationships and solve problems.
- Process and transformation focus, with experience standardizing and optimizing processes.
- Digital and AI mindset, with curiosity about emerging technologies and experience or interest in applying automation, AI-enabled tools, and analytics to improve accounting processes and business outcomes.
- Confident communicator with experience translating complex financial concepts to various audiences, including non-financial individuals.
- Leadership experience, such as developing others, leading transformation, driving company initiatives, or project leadership.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related Business field (preferred).
- Finance/Accounting experience in a manufacturing facility (preferred).
- Experience with Infor M3, SAP, or other large ERP and integrated accounting systems (preferred).
- Advanced MS Excel capability, including pivot tables, reporting, macros, modeling, data manipulation/analysis, and formula creation (preferred).
