Manager of Accounting
About the role
The Manager of Accounting oversees the collection and recording of financial data and transactions. This role involves hiring, training, and managing accounting staff, assisting with budget preparation, and performing various financial functions.
Responsibilities
- Prepares, compiles, and analyzes financial data and reports for submission to business partners.
- Reviews and ensures compliance with internal and external financial requirements, investigates unusual variances, and resolves discrepancies promptly.
- Collaborates with the Senior Director to update and maintain project proformas and assist in financial projections.
- Prepares year-end financial statements and footnotes, incorporating the impact of Accounting Standards Updates (ASUs).
- Liaises with Hunt Corporate Accounting on monthly, quarterly, and year-end consolidation issues, including intercompany reconciliations.
- Documents significant transactions and provides them to all PPP auditors for their understanding.
- Supervises and mentors the accounting team, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of reports and responses to inquiries.
- Collaborates with Hunt Property Management and Asset Management to assist on-site Bookkeepers with revenue journal entries and prepares annual budgets.
- Provides prospective fee and cash flow projection data to assist in Hunt Corporate debt coverage analysis.
- Identifies and liaises with the Senior Director to account for complex transactions requiring special treatment.
- Documents significant transactions and provides them to all PPP auditors for their understanding.
- Identifies and documents control deficiencies and reports them.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field required.
- 4-6 years of accounting experience, preferably in corporate settings and reporting, required.
- Strong knowledge of the chart of accounts, general ledger, trial balance, financial statement preparation, GAAP, and internal control policies and procedures.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Management ability to direct, guide, motivate, and develop staff.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to define problems and organize efficient solutions, analyze data, and draw valid conclusions.
- Advanced working knowledge of MS Excel.
- Knowledge of JD Edwards E-1 and Yardi is a plus.
- Must demonstrate strong attention to detail and knowledge of accounting practices and procedures.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
