About the role

The Manager of Professional Development for Occupational Health Services (OHS) oversees all educational, training, and professional development programs within OHS. This role also supervises Float Nurse Practitioners and ensures staff maintain necessary competencies.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive educational programs, standing orders, protocols, and SOPs for OHS staff.
  • Conduct learning needs assessments and use findings to guide program development.
  • Deliver training sessions and workshops on clinical practice, patient care, safety, leadership, technology, and compliance.
  • Maintain standardized educational resources accessible to all clinicians.
  • Maintain records of staff training, development activities, competency assessments, and progress.
  • Oversee onboarding processes and support preceptors and mentors.
  • Supervise Float Nurse Practitioners, including scheduling, audits, and evaluations.
  • Staff clinically one day per week to maintain competency and evaluate SOP effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with OHS leadership and participate in committees and projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Health Administration or related field of study.
  • RN licensure required.
  • 2+ years of proven experience in designing, developing, and implementing training programs in a healthcare or hospital setting.
  • 5+ years of clinical nursing experience.
  • PREFERRED: Master's Degree in related field of study.
  • PREFERRED: 2+ years of management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Occupational Health practice, regulatory requirements, and compliance.

Additional Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and motivate various audiences.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems and e-learning platforms is desirable.
  • Analytical skills to evaluate training program effectiveness and measure staff development progress.
  • A passion for continuous learning and a commitment to staying abreast of industry trends and advancements.
