Manager-Nurse RN
About the Role
Develops, administers, directs, and implements all nursing and related patient care activities for areas of accountability. Works in close collaboration with the nursing team to meet and support diverse organizational business initiatives and strategies. Responsibilities include standardization of systems, identification of efficiencies, financial oversight for nursing programs and services, integration of performance improvement strategies, and support of strategic nursing business initiatives, processes, and communication plans that foster patient, physician, and employee satisfaction.
Works collaboratively with all hospital departments to operationalize nursing integration, service line development, and standardized nursing practice. Performs other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Contributes to the development, implementation, and improvement of care delivery models and services that support continuous enhancement of care delivery and patient/family, employee, and provider satisfaction.
- Applies the values of the nursing organization and ensures compliance with nurse practice acts, nurses' rights, and regulatory and professional standards.
- Fosters transparency, interdisciplinary collaboration, and accountability in all areas.
- Enhances the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice, nursing services administration, and the delivery of services.
- Optimizes resource allocation to support current and potential objectives and initiatives.
- Directs a multidisciplinary workforce that provides clinically competent, efficient, and compassionate care and services in a professionally challenging environment.
Requirements
- 3 years of experience in an acute care setting with demonstrated leadership skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing or related field (preferred).
- Knowledge of healthcare issues, trends, legal compliance, and managed care with an emphasis on nursing operations.
- Ability to foster collaborative partnerships in the development, implementation, and administration of service and program delivery.
- RN licensure; BLS certification within 14 days of hire.
Work Environment
This role involves a medium activity level with frequent sitting, standing, and walking. Occasional physical demands include:
- Lifting and carrying 40–50 lbs.
- Pushing/pulling 150–200 lbs. (e.g., patient on a bed or stretcher).
- Lateral transfer of 150–200 lbs. (e.g., patient).
- Climbing, bending, reaching, squatting/kneeling/crawling, and wrist deviation.
- Pinching/fine motor activities, keyboard use, and repetitive motion.
Sensory and environmental requirements include:
- Color discrimination and accurate minimal-to-moderate sensory perception (talking, hearing, taste, or smell).
- Exposure to blood-borne pathogens, chemicals, and airborne communicable diseases.
This position formally supervises employees and has authority to hire, terminate, discipline, and promote.
