Ideal Candidate Profile
- Licensed Registered Nurse with a bachelor's degree in nursing and extensive NICU experience
- At least four years of clinical NICU nursing experience
- Three years of progressive nursing leadership experience
- Certification in area of practice preferred
- Confident leader with strong decision-making skills who fosters collaboration, supports professional growth, and promotes a culture of teamwork and continuous learning
Key Responsibilities
- Advocates for patient rights, dignity, privacy, and autonomy while promoting empowerment and involvement in care decisions
- Collects and analyzes data to identify trends, anticipate outcomes, and guide timely interventions for unit effectiveness
- Investigates complaints by collecting, analyzing, and synthesizing relevant data to identify issues, ensure timely resolution, and improve processes and outcomes
- Fosters open, effective communication across nursing staff and multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated, high-quality care
- Acts as a mentor and resource to peers and direct reports; supports growth through ongoing feedback and educational support
- Maintains clinical and leadership competencies through CEUs, certifications, and integration of current best practices
- Upholds professional ethics and ensures confidentiality, legal compliance, and alignment with regulatory standards
- Conducts fair and timely evaluations; provides constructive feedback and takes corrective action when necessary to support performance
- Leads daily operations with transparency, facilitates staff meetings, and ensures information is shared effectively
- Develops, supports, and implements unit goals and plans that align with department and hospital-wide strategies
- Evaluates personal performance and role effectiveness using feedback, peer input, and reflection; sets goals for growth
- Leads and participates in quality initiatives to enhance patient outcomes, operational efficiency, and regulatory readiness
- Promotes the use of clinical research and evidence-based practice to inform care delivery and team education
- Adjusts staffing based on census and acuity, ensures efficient scheduling, and manages resources within budget constraints
- Participates in interviewing and hiring processes, evaluating candidates' fit for departmental needs and team culture
- Demonstrates and promotes sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, and generational differences in staff, patients, and families
- Perform additional leadership responsibilities as assigned in support of Woman's Hospital policies, strategic initiatives, and organizational mission
