About the Role

This exempt position is responsible and accountable for department operations including fiscal management, quality and service, environment of care and safety, and human resource management. The manager supports and promotes laboratory practices consistent with the organization's vision, mission, goals, and values. The manager coordinates day-to-day department operations, manages key process flows, and facilitates process improvement to contribute to an environment of high performance expectations, mutual trust, and superior service.

This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Mayo Clinic does not participate in the F1 STEM OPT extension program.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee fiscal management of department operations.
  • Ensure quality and service standards are met.
  • Manage environment of care and safety protocols.
  • Handle human resource management within the department.
  • Coordinate day-to-day department operations and manage key process flows.
  • Facilitate process improvement initiatives.
  • Promote an environment of high performance expectations, mutual trust, and superior service.

Qualifications

A 2-year commitment to the role is required.

  • Baccalaureate degree in Medical Technology, Medical/Clinical Laboratory Science, Cytology, Histology, or a health/health sciences-related field with completion of a clinical laboratory internship.
  • Five years of experience actively working in a clinical laboratory.
  • Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent working knowledge of laboratory regulatory standards.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance principles and practices.
  • Ability to be effective in a diverse work group.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise independent judgment.
  • Prioritization and problem-solving skills.
  • Critical thinking skills.
  • Computer skills.
  • Leadership and project management skills.
  • Willingness to work at other sites and travel as required.

Additional Qualifications

  • One to three years of management/supervisory experience in a laboratory preferred.
  • Working knowledge of laboratory information and reporting systems.
  • Experience with operational and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments and assays.
  • Preferred certifications: ASCP or AMT (e.g., MT(ASCP), CLS(ASCP), MLS(ASCP), MLT(ASCP), HTL, HT, CT(ASCP), MT(AMT), MLT(AMT)).

Pay

$96,179 - $144,331 annually.

Schedule

  • Full Time
  • Hours/Pay Period: 80
  • Schedule Details: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
