About the Role

The Operational Intelligence Center is a sophisticated command center focused on customer service to retail centers across North America. The Intelligence Manager leads a diverse team of intelligence professionals engaged in social media monitoring, information collection, analysis, and dissemination to key stakeholders. Serving as the primary intelligence liaison, this role develops and maintains trusted relationships with OIC leadership, retail operations, and executive leadership. The Intelligence Manager identifies stakeholder intelligence requirements and ensures intelligence products align with operational and strategic business needs.

This role leverages the full range of intelligence community sources to identify and assess threats, prepare studies and assessments, and lead teams in leveraging customized targeting infrastructure to identify vulnerabilities. The Intelligence Manager must demonstrate a blend of technical, analytical, leadership, and communication skills to manage intelligence collection, analysis, and dissemination effectively.

Responsibilities

• Provide strong leadership to an analyst team in a 24/7 operational environment, inspiring, motivating, mentoring, and developing intelligence professionals.
• Set priorities, delegate tasks, and manage scheduling/coverage to oversee multiple concurrent intelligence-gathering efforts without interruption.
• Lead recruitment, interviews, and training for new analysts; ensure ongoing analyst development for complex intelligence tasks.
• Establish performance goals and KPIs; conduct regular weekly check-ins and annual performance reviews to drive high-quality, actionable intelligence.
• Review and approve intelligence products for accuracy, objectivity, and analytic rigor.
• Build a cohesive, collaborative team environment; address conflicts and team dynamics to sustain morale and productivity.
• Demonstrate a deep understanding of the intelligence cycle, threat assessment, and both strategic and tactical intelligence practices.
• Integrate HUMINT, SIGINT, and OSINT into a unified operational picture.
• Utilize data mining, automation, and OSINT platforms (Dataminr, Fivecast, ArcGIS, etc.).
• Monitor critical weather events, particularly tropical storms and severe weather (hurricanes, wildfires, winter weather).
• Apply strong problem-solving skills to address complex intelligence challenges.
• Conduct after-action reviews and lessons learned following significant incidents.
• Perform risk analysis and strategic forecasting to anticipate operational needs.
• Serve as the focal point directing intelligence efforts during emergencies, natural disasters, and security incidents.
• Apply familiarity with operational procedures and protocols for crisis management and emergency response.
• Make quick, sound decisions in fast-paced, high-stakes environments.
• Produce clear, concise intelligence reports for senior leadership and decision-makers.
• Develop strong briefing and presentation skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Facilitate team meetings and coordinate with other Intelligence counterparts (Strategic and Crime analysts).
• Collaborate with public/private agencies and external partners; build and maintain networks of information sources (Fusion centers, PD, etc.).
• Develop and update intelligence SOPs and training materials to strengthen team effectiveness and compliance.
• Establish analytic standards and ensure adherence to intelligence tradecraft principles.
• Adapt to evolving technologies, threats, and intelligence-gathering techniques; commit to ongoing learning.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement as new threats and methodologies emerge.
• Test and validate new open-source intelligence tools; discuss findings with leadership and make recommendations.

Requirements

• Strong critical thinking, analytical, and creative problem-solving skills; ability to define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions while engaging the right stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently, assess large volumes of information from multiple sources, and recall/record essential details quickly.
• Skilled at examining problems from multiple vantage points and using reference materials effectively in research.
• Working knowledge of strategic, operational, and tactical intelligence methods, with familiarity across the full range of intelligence disciplines.
• Knowledge of national security, law enforcement, and/or private sector/corporate intelligence methodologies.
• Strong understanding of risk management and its role in strategic intelligence operations.
• Familiarity with privacy laws, data protection regulations, and jurisdictional issues in intelligence work, particularly OSINT and cybersecurity.
• Strong leadership skills and willingness to take ownership of intelligence operations and analyst success.
• Ability to operate effectively as part of a strategic-level analytical team in producing intelligence products and assessments.
• Capable of multi-tasking, organizing, and prioritizing workload to handle competing deadlines.
• Forward-thinking, innovative mindset with a keen understanding of emerging technologies.
• Able to manage information and technical security programs.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and intelligence-related automation/communications tools; ability to quickly learn new applications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including research and writing, with the ability to engage effectively with managers and team members.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Criminology, Law Enforcement, Intelligence Studies, Political Science, Homeland Security, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant intelligence experience at the local, state, or federal level, in private sector/corporate intelligence, or in a comparable operational role, preferably in a leadership capacity.
• Minimum of 3 years in a managerial/supervisory role, ideally within a 24/7 or shift-based operations center.
• Demonstrated experience with OSINT tools and threat-monitoring platforms (e.g., Dataminr, LifeRaft, ArcGIS) or comparable technologies.
• Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with a proven ability to collaborate across departments and with external partners.
• Strong analytical skills, with keen attention to detail and the ability to translate data into actionable insights.

Working Conditions

• Supports a 24/7/365 operation and may require nights, weekends, and holiday coverage as part of the schedule.
• Salaried, exempt position that may require hours beyond a standard schedule, including on-call availability to respond to evolving intelligence situations and emergencies.
• Must thrive in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate a commitment to safety and responsiveness.
• Office-based position requiring the ability to sit, type, and maintain focused concentration for extended periods.
• Work environment primarily indoor, office/operations-center setting with extended exposure to multiple computer monitors and screens.
• Fast-paced environment with periods of high pressure during active incidents or emergencies; must remain composed and effective under stress.
• Regular exposure to graphic, sensitive, or distressing material (e.g., threat reporting, incident footage) as part of intelligence monitoring.
• Occasional travel may be required for meetings, site visits, or training.
