Responsibilities
- Systems & Automation (Technical Foundation)
- Design, build, and implement operational risk workflows, automations, and technical systems that improve efficiency and scale globally.
- Build and continuously improve risk dashboards and data visualization solutions that support executive decision-making.
- Develop automation solutions using tools like Zapier, Slack Workflow Builder, APIs, and internal systems to minimize friction in processes.
- Create scalable data pipelines and reporting frameworks that provide real-time operational risk visibility.
- Operational Intelligence & Data
- Access, analyze, and synthesize large datasets to identify operational risk patterns, control gaps, and improvement opportunities.
- Design and maintain operational risk metrics, KPIs, and KRIs that track business-critical risk indicators across Deel's global operations.
- Translate complex risk data into clear, actionable insights and recommendations for senior leadership.
- Conduct sophisticated root cause analysis on operational incidents using statistical methods and data modeling.
- Establish predictive analytics and early warning systems for emerging operational risks.
- Strategic Execution & Project Leadership
- Lead end-to-end strategic projects that span multiple functions (Product, Engineering, Operations, Compliance) to drive operational risk improvements.
- Manage complex cross-functional initiatives from scoping through implementation, ensuring stakeholder alignment and on-time delivery.
- Drive process optimization efforts that improve operational efficiency while maintaining strong risk controls.
- Partner with global teams across different countries, cultures, and regulatory environments to implement consistent risk practices.
- Support strategic planning, goal setting, and performance tracking for operational risk initiatives.
- Event & Issues Management
- Lead operational risk incident response coordination, ensuring appropriate escalation and swift resolution.
- Improve existing event management processes and implement new frameworks where required.
- Document lessons learned from incidents and drive systematic improvements to prevent recurrence.
- Maintain the operational risk event management framework, continuously enhancing its effectiveness.
- Technical Leadership and Mentorship
- Mentor and develop Operational Risk Management (ORM) Analysts in building and delivering automation solutions, workflows, and technical systems.
- Provide hands-on technical guidance on automation tools, data analysis techniques, and system architecture best practices.
- Lead knowledge-sharing sessions on advanced automation, dashboard design, and operational risk analytics.
- Support the growth of junior team members by reviewing their technical work, providing constructive feedback, and fostering a culture of continuous learning.
- Guide analysts in translating business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- 3-5+ years of experience in business operations, operational risk, technical program management, consulting, or similar high-impact environments.
- Demonstrated success in designing, building, and implementing technical systems, workflows, or automation solutions.
- Strong analytical skills with proven ability to manipulate, visualize, and derive insights from large datasets.
- Proficiency in at least two of: data visualization tools (Tableau, Looker, PowerBI), SQL, automation platforms (Zapier, Workflow Builder), or scripting (Python, JavaScript).
- Excellent project management skills with track record of leading cross-functional initiatives to successful completion.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with ability to influence senior stakeholders.
- Proven ability to navigate ambiguity, solve complex problems, and drive results independently.
- Curious by nature and passionate about operational excellence.
