Manager, HR Strategic Operations

About the role

As a Manager, Project Management at Capital One, you will drive strategy and execute high‑priority projects for the company. You will partner with HR leaders and colleagues within the Human Resources Strategic Operations team to deliver on HR strategic priorities that create value for Capital One. The role involves working with key stakeholders across the company, influencing senior leaders, and delivering results that directly impact the company’s bottom line.

Responsibilities

• Executive Governance & Decision Support: Design agendas for executive meetings that drive outcomes, ensure transparency, and accelerate decision‑making.
• Strategy Architecture: Support drafting and evolution of the multi‑year HR strategy, helping build and align the roadmap across the enterprise.
• Organizational Health & Reporting: Define and own key metrics, manage reporting on objectives and org health, and provide data‑driven insights for leadership.
• High‑Stakes Communications: Draft communications for executive forums, including pre‑reads and synthesis of complex discussions into actionable outcomes.
• Culture Advocacy: Design initiatives that foster engagement and high performance within the Strategic Operations team and the broader HR organization.
• AI Enablement & Process Innovation: Identify and pilot opportunities to responsibly integrate AI tools into strategic operations workflows, enhancing efficiency in data synthesis, reporting, and process optimization.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or military experience.
• At least 5 years of experience in strategic operations, management consulting, HR strategy, chief of staff role, or a combination thereof.
• At least 1 year of experience in roadmap alignment, governance structures, and change management.
• At least 3 years of experience working in a matrixed environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Exceptional writing and visual storytelling skills.
• Highly organized with great attention to detail.
• At least 6 years of management consulting experience.
• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills.
• Excellent problem‑solving and influencing abilities.
• Familiarity with leveraging AI technologies or prompt engineering to enhance operational productivity, analyze qualitative data insights, or streamline project delivery.

Pay

• McLean, VA: $151,900 – $173,400 (Manager, Project Management)
• Richmond, VA: $138,100 – $157,700 (Manager, Project Management)
• Other locations: Salary range will correspond to the local market and will be reflected in the offer letter.
• Eligible for performance‑based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses and/or long‑term incentives.
