Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee daily U.S. Domestic and International Equities and Fixed Income settlement activity, including Fed Settlements and Securities Borrow/Loan transactions, supporting both local and international business lines.
- Support accurate and timely settlement across a complex product set, including equities, bonds, ADRs/ORDs, 144A/Reg S securities, and collateralized transactions.
- Coordinate and monitor key activities across the settlement lifecycle, including:
- Trade settlement and affirmation
- Segregation and regulatory custody requirements
- Triparty trade matching and funding activity
- P/S and DWAC processing
- Corporate action–related conversions and adjustments
- Cash wire processing and liquidity movements
- Daily funding, cash management, and position reconciliation
- Fail monitoring, escalation, and remediation
- Coupon, margin, and TMPG receivable/payable management
- Trade repricing and associated cash movements
- Management information and operational reporting
- Partner with Front Office, Finance, Treasury, Technology, and Risk teams to support new product launches, client onboarding, market expansions, and operating model changes.
- Support operational readiness for new business initiatives, helping ensure scalability, control readiness, and regulatory alignment prior to go-live.
- Work with upstream and downstream stakeholders to improve trade quality, settlement outcomes, and funding efficiency.
- Manage day-to-day operational risk and control activities for the settlement function, ensuring processes are performed in line with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and the firm’s stated risk appetite.
- Support internal and external audits, regulatory exams, and control reviews, including evidence gathering, issue tracking, remediation support, and sustainable control enhancements.
- Ensure adherence to obligations under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook, and Guidelines for Business Conduct.
- Contribute to continuous improvement in controls, reconciliations, exception management, and issue escalation to reduce settlement risk and operational losses.
- Supervise, coach, and motivate settlement operations team members, fostering a culture of accountability, inclusion, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Set clear expectations aligned to business strategy, operational excellence, and risk discipline.
- Support people-manager responsibilities, including performance feedback, resource planning, development conversations, and employee engagement activities.
- Identify individual and team development needs, providing coaching and guidance to build technical depth, operational judgment, and leadership capability.
- Address performance and conduct matters through timely feedback, coaching, and escalation where appropriate, reinforcing expected behaviors and standards.
Requirements
Strong experience in securities settlement operations across Fed eligible securities, equities and fixed income, including exposure to domestic and international markets.
Experience working in complex, regulated environments, with a sound understanding of operational risk, controls, and audit expectations.
A proven ability to partner with Front Office, Treasury, Risk, and Technology teams to support change and business requirements.
Experience supervising teams, supporting talent development, and reinforcing a strong performance and control culture.
The confidence and credibility to engage with business partners, auditors, control partners, and senior management on operational matters.
Experience and familiarity with custodial platforms and connected technology applications, such as BNY Access Edge, Treasury Edge, ADP, IMPACT, MMI, Anvil, DTC, and CDS.
