Responsibilities
- Manages IT staff by recruiting and training employees, communicating job expectations, assigning projects/tasks, and monitoring performance.
- Ensures staff alignment with mission and strategic plan.
- Ensures staff compliance with budgets, resource allocation, operational plans, and policies.
- Safeguards projects by keeping them on track and regularly communicating status to department leadership and business/operational leaders.
- Regularly reviews/implements advances in technology and industry best practices.
- Aids in preparing operating and capital budgets following established guidelines and using benchmark data.
Requirements
- Prior management experience (preferred).
- Epic Inpatient Orders certification (required).
- Bachelor's degree (required).
- Operations Planning (intermediate): Anticipates resource needs to meet objectives and implements appropriate processes.
- Leadership (intermediate): Formulates a vision while motivating & guiding employees promoting engagement. Leaders state precise goals, ensures the commitment of individuals to those goals, defines the methods of measurement, and provides the incentive to accomplish measureable outcomes.
- Quality Management (intermediate): Developing a systematic process of checking to see whether a process or service is meeting specific requirements.

- Compliance (intermediate): Understanding the rules, regulations, sanctions and other statutory requirements, guidelines and instructions relating to governing bodies and organizations, both internally and externally.

The Health IT department provides the best health information technology tools that support Vanderbilt University Medical Center's mission. Our tools, developed in-house or selected from the market, are essential for delivering personalized care, improving health outcomes, and supporting research. We collaborate closely with VUMC Information Technology to ensure our solutions meet the evolving needs of our 24,000 colleagues.

Position Qualifications
- Certifications: Epic Inpatient Orders certification (required).
- Experience: Relevant work experience (7+ years preferred).
- Education: Bachelor's degree (required).
