About the role

Responsibilities

  • Manages the daily operations of the Environmental Services (EVS) Department for assigned area(s).
  • Supervises personnel to support the mission and achieve the strategic objectives of The MetroHealth System.
  • Ensures assigned areas are clean, safe, and compliant with all applicable health and safety standards.
  • Assesses current operations, identifies necessary changes for operational and efficiency needs, and anticipates their impact on the EVS department.
  • Evaluates systems, processes, and standards, and collaborates with the Director – Environmental Services to design/implement improvements for efficiency and maintaining effective operations.
  • Acts as a Subject Matter Expert by sharing industry best practices with EVS staff and other employees, assessing current processes, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience, preferably in a health-care related field.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of Environmental Services experience in a hospital setting.
  • Extensive experience with EVS equipment and industry best practices for chemical handling and floor care.
  • Knowledge of floor care best practices for various types of flooring.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability.
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge of Epic (preferred).

Physical Requirements

  • Sit, stand, stoop, bend, and ambulate intermittently during the day.
  • Sit for extended periods.
  • See in the normal visual range with or without correction.
  • Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
  • Finger dexterity to operate office equipment required.
  • Communicate in face-to-face, phone, email, and other communications.
  • See computer monitor and departmental documents.
  • Push/pull 70-150 pounds.
  • Lift 10-40 pounds.
  • Exposure to chemicals and cleaning products.
