About the role
The Manager, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) reports directly to the Director, Facilities and is a highly visible position responsible for executing proactive safety programs for which conform to Company safety philosophies, goals, and ensures regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
- Lead development, execution, and improvement of all EHS Systems, Programs, Policies and Procedures delivering EHS Excellence.
- Lead execution of a strong Interim Corrective Action- Permanent Corrective Action (ICA/PCA) program that drives site improvement in Safety and Environmental Health.
- Lead the root cause analysis of accidents and incidents and collaborate with peers to develop strategies to reduce the frequency and severity of accidents.
- Provides training to management and employees on various health and safety topics, tracks and keeps accurate records of same.
- Maintains and reports on relevant EHS logs, documentation, and required permits.
- Covers the purchase, proper use, maintenance, and inspection of necessary safety and personal protective equipment.
- Able to work with employees to achieve cultural change in the promotion of a safe working environment.
- Maintains positive and proactive relations with managers and employees, as well as our customers and regulatory agencies.
- Provide compliance and regulatory advice to facility management.
- Conduct environmental, health and safety incident-related investigations, root-cause analysis and monitor closure of incidents as appropriate.
- Identify appropriate facility-level resource needs, evaluate, and analyze indicators (leading and lagging), performance metrics and advise management on strategic activities and initiatives.
- Stay current on laws and regulations through various methods (professional reading, electronic professional websites, and networking with peers).
Requirements
You Will Need To Take Ownership Of Daily Tasks:
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent with 10+ years of relevant experience developing and implementing of EHS programs OR
- A Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental safety, or a similar field with 3+ years of relevant experience developing and implementing of EHS programs.
Skills
- OSHA and EPA standards.
- Ability to work independently with leadership oversight.
- Ability to foster teamwork and work cooperatively to make effective decisions and resolve issues.
