Manager, Cytology - Pathology
About the role
Functions as the Clinical Cytology Lab Manager within the Surgical Pathology Division in the Department of Pathology; leads and oversees daily operations, management and customer service within the clinical cytology laboratory; manages human resources, financial and budget planning and preparation, quality improvement, safety programs, compliance program, successful inspection and accreditation processes; ensures adherence to current policies and procedures related to technical, operational, and administrative areas of the laboratory.
Performs all aspects of primary screening of gynecologic and exfoliative non-gynecologic patient samples; trains all cytotechnologists in fine needle aspiration service and adequacy assessment on touch prep biopsies; maintains all CAP required continuing education materials and participant documentation, oversees/maintains all monthly department statistics required by credentialing agencies; is included in many administrative discussions and decisions as a part of succession planning for the future.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Cytotechnology, Biology, Medical Technology or related field.
- American Society for Clinical Pathology as a Certified Technologist.
- 5 years of relevant experience required.
- 8–12 years of relevant experience preferred.
