About the role

This role is based in our Detroit or Charlotte office on a hybrid schedule, in office weekly with some remote work.

Responsibilities

  • Own assigned broad-based compensation programs, processes, and guidelines, which may include salary programs, annual compensation planning activities, and selected variable incentive compensation processes, helping ensure they are administered consistently and in line with Ally’s compensation philosophy and governance standards.
  • Lead compensation analysis and modeling to inform pay decisions, program recommendations, annual planning, and selected variable incentive compensation decisions or program assessments.
  • Manage market pricing and benchmarking activities for assigned work.
  • Oversee key components of the annual compensation cycle, which may include planning support, testing, exception review, reconciliation, reporting, and post-cycle assessment.
  • Support and oversee selected variable incentive compensation activities, which may include plan administration, documentation, reporting, modeling, governance, and process improvement work.
  • Develop and maintain compensation policies, process guidance, job aids, training materials, and related documentation to support clear standards and strong execution.
  • Monitor compensation data, program outcomes, and process effectiveness, and recommend improvements that strengthen governance, accuracy, and scalability.
  • Lead or contribute to control-focused work such as pay equity analysis, FLSA-related review, data quality checks, and process improvements that support disciplined compensation practices.
  • Lead and participate in compensation and HR-related projects as assigned, which may include job architecture work, pay transparency readiness, Workday-related enhancements, workflow improvements, or other enterprise initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications: 7+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience managing compensation analysis, compensation administration, or compensation program work in a complex organization. Strong analytical skills, including advanced Excel skills and the ability to analyze compensation data, model scenarios, and develop recommendations. Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate complex information clearly and effectively. Strong relationship management skills with experience partnering across HR and business stakeholders. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, or a related field. Experience supporting broad-based compensation programs in a large, complex organization. Experience in one or more of the following areas: market pricing, salary structure administration, annual compensation cycles, pay equity analysis, policy management, job architecture, pay transparency, or compensation controls. Experience with Workday compensation processes or other systems used for compensation administration and reporting. Project management experience and demonstrated ability to streamline and simplify processes. PHR, CCP, or similar certification.

Pay

Base Pay Range: $110000 - $180000 USD An individual's position in the range is determined by the specific role, the scope and responsibilities of the role, work experience, education, certification(s), training, and additional qualifications. We review internal pay, the competitive market, and business environment prior to extending an offer.

Schedule

Work Schedule: Ally designates roles as (1) fully on-site, (2) hybrid, or (3) fully remote. Hybrid roles are generally expected to be in the office a certain number of days per week as indicated by your manager. Your hiring manager will discuss this role's specific work requirements with you during the hiring process. All work requirements are subject to change at any time based on leader discretion and/or business need.
