Responsibilities

  • Manage the festival submission process and organize submission materials
  • Liaise with filmmakers, distributors, and international sales to expand programming opportunities
  • Identify outreach opportunities to connect new audiences with emerging filmmakers
  • Identify potential presenting partners for specific films and programmes
  • Write and organize all publicity information and materials related to films and screenings
  • Introduce films to the audience and host Q&As with filmmakers

Requirements

  • Demonstrated interest, knowledge, or academic background in Film/Media Studies or other humanities disciplines such as literature, fine arts, and philosophy
  • A curatorial vision that is aligned with the direction of MulanIFF
  • Working knowledge of emerging and established filmmakers, and key players in the Asian film industries
  • Demonstrated research skills and organizational skills
  • Excellent professional communication skills in English and/or Chinese

Schedule

This is a volunteer position with a minimum weekly commitment of:

  • 8 hours during peak season (March, April, and May)
  • 5 hours during festival season and other times (January, February, June, July, and August to December)
