About the Role

The Manager of Charter Air Operations will oversee key aspects of the client and university partner interface within the Charter Air department. This role manages the full lifecycle of charter air transportation, from sourcing to collection, while maintaining strong relationships with charter departments at commercial airlines and regional charter air carriers across the United States and globally. The position is responsible for relationship management, selection, and contracting processes for collegiate and event clients and may include supervising Charter Air Coordinators.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain strong relationships with university partners and collaborate closely with charter air carriers.
  • Coordinate charter air logistics and communicate with Anthony Travel onsite athletics personnel and Event Managers.
  • Ensure Anthony Travel secures the best available market rates for charter services.
  • Assist in managing contracts to minimize risk and maximize company revenue.
  • Perform situation analysis and decision-making to address operational challenges.
  • Work with charter air liaisons to prepare charters for events and resolve customer service issues.
  • Identify and implement solutions to improve processes or business problems.
  • Oversee all aspects of the air charter process, including client reporting, procedural consistency, data setup in travel management systems, and customer travel experience (e.g., coordination with carriers, TSA, airports, and handling flight interruptions).

Qualifications

  • Seven or more years of experience in business, sales, and charter air management.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven leadership and management skills.
  • Strong client-service and vendor management orientation, with excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Experience working with Airline Certificates (Part 121, 125, & 135).
  • Business knowledge of ARGUS ratings, airline certificates (Part 121, 125, and 135), DOT regulations, CFR, Part 212 affinity/single entity, and Part 380/public charters.
  • History of developing relationships with clients and partners that yield financial or strategic benefits.
  • Ability to understand and improve internal business processes.
  • Familiarity with the end-to-end travel lifecycle and charter air operations/contracts.
  • Professional representation of Anthony Travel in phone and in-person interactions.
  • Team-oriented mindset with a focus on establishing business processes and meeting team goals.
  • Tenacious, proactive, and inquisitive attitude.
  • Strategic decision-making abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and investigative skills.

Pay

Hiring rate range: $50,625 – $67,500 annually (minimum will not fall below applicable state/local minimum salary thresholds). Pay is based on job-related qualifications, knowledge, skills, and experience.
