Manager, Central Sterile Processing
About the role
Lead and support a team of sterile processing professionals, including hiring, scheduling, and performance management. Collaborate with OR clinicians and leadership to manage surgical tray inventory, consignment contracts, and instrumentation needs. Maintain compliance with hospital policies and ensure staff competency and orientation. Monitor departmental performance, budgets, and supply levels; provide regular reports to the OR Unit Director. Serve as a key liaison between Sterile Processing and internal stakeholders to ensure service satisfaction. Remain accessible for 24/7 staff support (no on-call, weekends, or holidays required). Drive continuous improvement initiatives and support a culture of safety, accountability, and professional growth.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in nursing, Business, or related field.
- 5 years of experience in Central Sterile Processing or Surgical Technology.
- 3 years supervisory or team lead experience required.
- Ability to communicate effectively with peers, physicians, staff of other hospital departments, and outside contacts.
- Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution or Certified Registered Central Service Technician provisional certification and pass the certification exam prior to moving into the role.
- Complete 10 hours of continuing education to remain qualified as a Central Sterile Technician on an annual basis.
- Able to stand for all shift hours and be able to pick up, push, pull etc. 35 pounds.
