Manager, Care Services

About the role
The Care Services Manager develops professional and community relationships to provide care and support to those living with ALS. This role manages care services programs, ensuring high-quality, consistent services for individuals with ALS and their families, and may supervise care services staff within an assigned territory. The manager also facilitates education, information, benefit, and clinical resource navigation assistance to persons diagnosed with ALS and caregivers.
Responsibilities
- Conduct specialized care consultations and needs assessments for people living with ALS, caregivers, and families experiencing complex needs or requiring expertise.
- Actively manage a portfolio of clients, ensuring client and caregiver needs are met within the capabilities of The ALS Association.
- Manage field staff in assigned territory to ensure people living with ALS, caregivers, and families receive necessary programs and services.
- Provide information on programs, services, resources, and printed/electronic educational materials; may oversee specific programs.
- Coordinate referrals to and partnerships with healthcare providers and community agencies.
- Evaluate, facilitate, and ensure the effectiveness of support groups in meeting the needs of the ALS community.
- Collaborate with the Care Services Director and Managing Director to plan and implement program outcomes and evaluation processes.
- Ensure quarterly contact/engagement with those living with ALS and/or their caregivers.
- Document all engagements with persons living with ALS, family, caregivers, or other healthcare professionals; ensure Care Services staff adheres to documentation standards.
- Educate and inform the general public and professionals about ALS, its management, related research, and the services and mission of The ALS Association.
- Serve as a member of the ALS Clinic multidisciplinary team and act as the liaison between the clinic and The Association; develop and maintain clinic relationships.
- Provide professional in-service educational programs to ALSA staff and healthcare professionals, including home health, hospice agencies, Durable Medical Equipment (DME) providers, and Skilled Nursing Facilities.
- Participate in continuing education seminars, workshops, and conferences to gain knowledge on related topics.
- Provide mentoring opportunities to new staff.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or related experience in social work, case management, health administration, allied and public health, nursing, or a related area.
- Minimum of four years of related professional experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize management skills such as problem-solving, reasoning, critical thinking, budget/program planning, performance improvement, and organizational planning.
- Knowledge of ALS is a plus but not required.
- Experience with progressive neurodegenerative disease.
- Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, patient assessment skills, planning, and case management preferred.

Pay
The pay range for this position is $50,649 - $79,346 annually. Compensation is determined by the candidate's primary work location and may vary based on factors such as role complexity, relevant experience, and abilities.
