About the role

The Business Development Manager role is a critical member of the high-performing sales team. This candidate is responsible for developing comprehensive business plans for his/her accounts that actualizes the overall objective of the Region Sales Initiatives to efficiently grow operating profits and revenues year to year. He/She is a strong people leader that provides guidance and direction to his/ her KAMs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, lead and actualize a strategic business plan that will grow operating profits and revenue year to year with his/her assigned customer group.
  • Communicate clearly goals and provide visibility to performance against goals.
  • Understand and utilize syndicated data (Circana, CRM and consumer) to identify business opportunities.
  • Collaborate with KAM to identify opportunities, set goals and objectives, develop the sales presentation, and support and assist in the region planning process.
  • Manage and allocate local trade and promotional spending budgets with the objective of being aligned to region guidelines.
  • Assess and evaluate the business results of his/her assigned customers and recommend strategic change strategies if necessary.
  • Effectively understand and draw insights from syndicated data to identify business opportunities.
  • Develop strong partnerships with customer’s key decision makers at all levels within customer organization in service of PMI U.S.’s mission.
  • Collaborates effectively with MSM to ensure alignment of executional objectives within market in service of providing appropriate direction to DSMs.
  • Strives for operational excellence with efficient & effective use of resources.
  • Active engagement in performance process through coaching and learning in service of growth and development of the sales organization.
  • Provide a development plan for each Key Account Manager to ensure they have the necessary knowledge, skills and characteristics that will enable them to be considered for further advancement.
  • Accurately manage business performance data to ensure timely reporting of account metrics to Account Sales Director.
  • Collaborates and actively engages with Talent Acquisition in recruitment process for new KAMs & SAMs in accordance with company recruiting and selection guidelines and policies.
  • Develops and ensures alignment of personalized development plans for direct reports based on Sales Competency Model.
  • Provide ongoing coaching to support team development in accordance with Performance Management standards and principles and Sales Competency Model.
  • Communicates with Impact consistently with team, cross-functional partners and his/ her customers.
  • Create a culture that fosters cooperation, credibility, candor, consistency, acting with integrity and a commitment to exceptional performance across the team and with cross-functional partners.

    Requirements

    • Minimum Bachelor’s degree with focus in business; MBA preferred.
    • Minimum five years or more experience in developing & leading strategy in account management and/or wholesaler management in consumer goods category.
    • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple accounts.
    • Prior proven ability to communicate with impact in written and verbal.
    • Strong presentation development and delivery skills are mandatory.
    • Strong planning, organizational, leadership, coaching, and teamwork skills, including team management.
    • Strong analytical skills in service of understanding complex data to develop actionable initiatives to address business opportunities.
    • Strong understanding and utilization of resources such as: Microsoft Outlook, Power Point, Excel, Word, MSA data, Salesforce (MAFs, store lists, trade programs, campaigns, customer contact information, authorized items), Syndicated data.
