About the Division

The Division of Surgical Oncology includes Complex General Surgical Oncology, Breast Surgery, Melanoma, Gastrointestinal, Colorectal, Peritoneal, Advanced Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (AHPB), and Endocrine Surgery. This division works closely with the Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI) and together, they lead robust clinical, research, and education programs that serve patients across the region. Responsibilities

• Strategic & Operational Leadership
  • Network and forge strong cross-functional relationships with stakeholders across the organization, including physicians, department and division leadership, hospital leadership, and other key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate dynamic and resilient leadership able to rapidly adjust to change and evolving priorities.
  • Provide strategic thinking and planning to add value beyond day-to-day tasks.
  • Implement organizational strategies to drive operational excellence.
  • Manage divisional activities within the university, focusing on operational effectiveness.
  • Assist in managing budgets and resource allocation to support the organization’s strategic objectives.
  • Monitor performance metrics, identify areas for improvement, and implement solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Assist the division with workforce operations matters.
• Financial Management
  • Support the division chief and financial lead to oversee the operating budget for the Division of Surgical Oncology, including monthly expenses and accounting.
• Clinical Program Oversight
  • Work closely with clinic managers within University of Utah Health and the Huntsman Cancer Hospital for clinical work operating out of the Huntsman Cancer Hospital, University Hospital, Farmington Health Center, Sugar House Health Center, and South Jordan Health Center.
  • Support expansion of clinical programs across Surgical Oncology and subspecialties.
• Research Administration
  • Provide support for research personnel in the division and their mission.
• Human Resources & Organizational Development
  • Coordinate the hiring of new faculty, APCs, and staff.
  • Support new hires with licensing, credentialing, and onboarding to ensure a smooth transition to the team.
  • Manage all attending and APC licensing, credentialing, and hospital appointments; ensure they are renewed in a timely manner.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalency) plus 6 years of directly related work experience, or a master’s degree (or equivalency) plus 4 years of directly related work experience.
• 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (e.g., bachelor’s degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).

Pay

Pay rate range: $60,586 - $118,143 per year.
