About the role
The Manager Accounting role at Mohawk Industries is a first-level manager overseeing the day-to-day accounting functions and financial reporting activities of an accounting team. This role requires strong technical accounting expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to lead and develop a team of accounting professionals.
Responsibilities
- Maintain Sarbanes-Oxley Act compliance by verifying the accuracy of methods and controls according to GAAP.
- Manage SAP integrity and ensure the accuracy of transactions performed with the receiving and payment of goods in the accounting system.
- Oversee month end closing processes: journal entry preparation, account reconciliation, systems interface, inter-company balancing, and allocations inventory control.
- Ensure that clerks and technicians are performing their duties properly and efficiently.
- Prepare yearly budgets for operations by gathering and preparing the documentation.
- Lead monthly variance review meetings with management and present monthly variances to management for them to be sufficiently informed of financial data.
- Manage the global reconciliation tool to include working collaboratively with the segments to ensure all account reconciliations are prepared and reviewed monthly.
- Manage the lease process to ensure policies and procedures are being followed globally.
- Serve as audit liaison for both Internal and External auditors and manage SOX activities for the Corporate Accounting Group.
- Identify areas of improvement within the accounting department to increase efficiencies and develop streamlined accounting processes, implementing solutions accordingly.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent education and/or experience.
- 6-8 years of relevant experience or equivalent education and/or experience.
- 1-3 years of management experience.
- CPA certification preferred.
