Manager Accounting
About the role
Independence Pet Holdings is a corporate holding company managing a diverse portfolio of modern pet health brands and services, including insurance, pet education, lost recovery services, and more throughout North America. We build solutions to simplify the pet parenting journey and improve the well-being of pets.
This role focuses on operational leadership and process management, implementing effective operational processes and leading cross-functional process improvement work groups to enhance AP, intercompany, investment, and banking workflows. You will ensure effective daily workflows, monitor quality performance measures, and confirm timely completion of work assignments such as invoice processing, payment JEs, wire releases, reconciliations, and accruals.
You will maximize system efficiencies across ZIP, D365, Concur, and bank platforms, identify automation opportunities, and lead UAT/testing efforts. Serving as the technical, business, and analytical liaison with FP&A, Procurement, Payroll, Investment, and IT system owners, you will participate in departmental budgeting and goal-setting processes and act as a hands-on reviewer/approver for AP transactions, intercompany files, investment JEs, reconciliations, and statutory schedules.
You will lead, develop, and scale a high-performing reporting team, driving reporting transformation, automation, and process optimization initiatives to improve accuracy, efficiency, transparency, and scalability across the accounting close cycle. This includes collaboration with Treasury Management, Accounts Payables, and shared service model relationships.
You will partner with Technology, Operations, and Finance stakeholders on IT implementations, reporting platform enhancements, data architecture decisions, and system integrations to ensure statutory, Canadian Branch, and management reporting requirements are embedded into design, testing, controls, and post-implementation governance. Additionally, you will establish meaningful metrics, timelines, and review cadences to monitor filing readiness, regulatory deliverables, control performance, and team execution against priorities.
You will support project initiatives including banking and GL system implementations and enhancements, and coordinate with external auditors (EY) on AP and investment-related audit requests.
