About the role
The Accounting Manager will lead core accounting processes, oversee internal controls, review balance sheet accounts, and partner with cross-functional finance teams to ensure complete and accurate accounting records.
Responsibilities
- Lead core accounting processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, inventory accounting, fixed assets, incentive compensation accounting, and reserve analyses.
- Owes the accounting close process and delivery of accurate accounting inputs that support enterprise consolidation and reporting.
- Owns process-level internal controls, including execution, documentation, testing support, and remediation efforts.
- Review balance sheet accounts and fluctuation analysis, challenge explanations, identify risks and anomalies, and drive corrective actions when necessary.
- Investigate and resolve accounting issues, reconciling items, and process exceptions.
- Partner with cross-functional finance teams to ensure complete and accurate accounting records.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and strengthen financial controls.
- Establish and maintain process documentation, standard work and cross-training plans to improve consistency, reduce key-person dependency and support scalability.
- Coach, mentor, and develop accounting team members while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience leading or mentoring others.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial close processes.
- Experience with internal controls and maintaining accurate financial records.
- Ability to analyze issues, identify root causes, and implement practical solutions.
- Experience working within an ERP environment (JD Edwards experience is a plus).
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on process effectiveness and scalability.
