About the Role
The Mammography Technologist performs mammography imaging procedures to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. This role involves operating mammography and other imaging equipment, ensuring patient safety, and maintaining high-quality imaging standards. The technologist must effectively communicate with patients and healthcare professionals to provide optimal care.
Responsibilities
- Operate mammography and other imaging equipment to produce diagnostic images.
- Recognize technical abnormalities and adjust protocols as needed.
- Follow radiation safety procedures and machine emergency protocols.
- Maintain knowledge of advanced imaging procedures and safe machine operation.
- Ensure patient safety and comfort during imaging procedures.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide high-quality patient care.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Imaging Program with required clinical hours completed.
- State licensure may be required depending on the specific state of practice.
- Obtained American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registry OR registry eligible (achieve registry within 6 months of eligibility).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficient knowledge in producing diagnostic images.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex instructions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
- Prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
- Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
