About the role
This role involves providing mammography services according to physicians' orders, including preparing equipment, performing high-quality imaging, and developing films. The technologist must evaluate image quality, ensure patient comfort, and educate patients based on age-specific needs.
Responsibilities
- Perform mammography imaging procedures in accordance with physicians' orders.
- Prepare and operate mammography equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images.
- Evaluate image quality and make necessary adjustments.
- Ensure patient comfort and provide age-specific education.
- Perform accurate data entry related to patient records and imaging results.
- Maintain safety standards to minimize radiation exposure for patients and staff.
- Adhere to regulations such as MQSA (Mammography Quality Standards Act) and ACR (American College of Radiology) guidelines.
- Identify patients correctly and manage contrast media as required.
- Respond to contrast reactions and other medical emergencies.
- Maintain a clean and organized radiology environment.
- Participate in safety protocols and quality improvement initiatives.
- Work rotating shifts as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Certified Radiologic Technologist license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Qualifications
- At least one year of experience in mammography is preferred.
