Mammography Technologist

Facility: Sanford Health Northwest Clinic – Minot, ND

About the role

Operates mammography equipment and performs various mammography-related examinations to produce radiograph images for clinical screening and diagnostic purposes. Ensures accurate body positioning and provides mammograms to women under direct supervision. Implements radiation safety standards and relevant policies into imaging practices. Processes and evaluates the technical quality of images. Delivers care and support services to clients before, during, and after mammogram procedures (e.g., explaining procedures, answering inquiries). Educates women on the importance of mammography in preventing breast cancer.

Sanford Rural Health Network facility sites may expand job responsibilities based on the needs of the facility, to include, but not limited to: on-call rotation nights, weekends, and holidays. Perform diagnostic radiology procedures, basic diagnostic radiology tasks, and general radiology protocols. May perform mobile imaging, electrocardiogram (EKG), cardiac monitor placement, and dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) procedures.

Responsibilities

• Ensure accurate body positioning and provide mammograms under direct supervision.
• Implement radiation safety standards and relevant policies.
• Process and evaluate the technical quality of images.
• Provide care and support services to clients before, during, and after procedures.
• Educate women on the importance of mammography in breast cancer prevention.
• Perform diagnostic radiology procedures and basic radiology tasks.
• May perform mobile imaging, EKG, cardiac monitor placement, and DEXA procedures.
• Maintain records and update mammography-related history.
• Demonstrate knowledge of anatomy, pathology, physiology, and medical terminology.
• Maintain continuing education credits as necessary.

Requirements

• Completion of an educational program accepted by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) is required.
• Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required.
• Certified or obtain ARRT certification in Mammography within one year of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six weeks of employment and re-certification as necessary is required.
• If working in North Dakota and performing medical imaging or radiation therapy procedures, licensure through the North Dakota Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (NDMIRT) Board is required.
• When applicable, maintenance of a valid driver’s license and good driving record is required.

Pay

Salary range: $31.00 - $49.50 per hour
