Makerspace Equipment Management and Maintenance

Oversee the maintenance, repair, and procurement of makerspace equipment. Conduct routine safety and operational checks of all tools and equipment. Maintain an inventory of equipment, supplies and materials allocated to the Makerspace.

User Assistance Training & Safety

Develop user and safety guides for all equipment and oversee equipment training for users. Provide assistance, guidance to makerspace users on various tools, technology and equipment. Update and enforce makerspace policies and procedures to maintain a safe and inclusive environment.

Program Development Implementation

Develop and implement innovative programs and workshops to engage users and foster a culture of creativity and innovation. Collaborate with faculty and staff to integrate makerspace resources into their curriculum. Collaborate with academic computing and faculty to integrate maker space course content on Blackboard.

Administrative Duties

Manage reservations, scheduling and usage records for the Makerspace and EIC. Manage security protocols during opening and closing, ensuring the safety of equipment and the integrity of the EIC building. Maintain a log of work orders and needed repairs within the building.

Point-of-contact for EIC

Serve as a point-of-contact for visitors, guests and staff entering the EIC building. Instruct guests and visitors on electronic and manual check-in processes. Maintain electronic and hardcopy visitor logs including verification of identification. Provide weekly and monthly data points on visits and other key points identified by the EIC management team.

Community Outreach and Engagement

Promote the makerspace to the wider community through events, workshops and collaboration.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Technical proficiency in makerspace technologies, tools and equipment.
  • Understanding of computer software related to design and fabrication.
  • Instructional skills with the ability to design, develop and deliver effective training sessions, workshops and instructional materials for diverse user groups.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols, risk management and hazard identification associated with the tools and equipment in the makerspace.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to handle inquiries from guests, staff, and students with diplomacy and professionalism.
  • Customer service and the ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships.

Minimum Training & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Four years of work experience in a customer/consumer related field.

Conditions Of Employment

  • Evening and night hours required.
  • Technical Support (5%): Serve as the lead technical support for the EIC.
