Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED; experience in grounds maintenance preferred; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds or more and to wear steel-toed work boots.
- Current valid driver’s license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, records must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months.
- Out-of-state driving records must be obtained by the applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date.
- Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check, and education/degree verification required.
Responsibilities
- Perform grounds maintenance tasks including mowing, athletic field maintenance, restroom maintenance, shelter maintenance, and litter removal.
- Maintain park and school landscape beds by delivering and spreading mulch, trimming hedges, and performing some playground maintenance.
- Assist Sheriff’s workforce as needed.
- Perform other work as required.
Must maintain personal mobile technology as a condition of employment.
Schedule
- 32 hours per week; seasonal employment until November 1.
- Shifts may vary with coverage needs spanning 7 days per week, including holidays and weekends.
- Hours are typically 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.; may include some evenings.
