Maintenance Worker - Public Services

About the role

The City of Fayetteville is recruiting for a Maintenance Worker in the Public Services Department. The position performs semi‑skilled and skilled work in construction, maintenance, repair and related activities for streets, stormwater, streets, open spaces, cemeteries, parking lots, curbs, sidewalks and other City facilities.

From the time of closing, the selection process is anticipated to last approximately 4‑6 weeks and will consist of a panel interview, pre‑employment drug screen, physical abilities test, background check and driving history check.

Responsibilities

• Clean, maintain, and repair equipment, roads, alleyways, right‑of‑ways, streets, open spaces, City cemeteries, parking lots, curbs, sidewalks, and other City facilities.
• Perform street construction and maintenance activities; dig and maintain ditches; backfill trenches and holes; install storm drainage pipes; participate in curb and sidewalk projects; repair and replace brick pavers.
• Perform grounds maintenance activities including mowing of lawns, routine landscaping, and hauling debris and trash.
• Prepare ball fields for use, participate in playground installation and maintenance; repair and maintain landscape areas in and around work sites.
