Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the Chinatown YMCA is attractive and clean by completing all duties listed on the daily schedule and maintaining upkeep of assigned area and equipment.
- May perform wet and dust mopping, dusting, trash removal, recycling, window washing, pool cleaning, painting, vacuuming, seasonal activities dealing with lawn care and snow removal, and general cleaning.
- Operates related motorized and non-motorized equipment.
- Records and reports all needed repairs; repairs as directed.
- Ensures the Chinatown YMCA building and property is secure during shift and report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor.
- Replaces soap, paper towels and other supplies.
- May set up furniture and/or rooms for events.
- Strips and waxes floors, also shampoos rugs as needed.
- Follows standards of DOH, DOB, FDNY, HPD and ECB Departments.
- Follows YMCA Housekeeping Policies and Procedures.
Desired Skills & Experience
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of six (6) months of experience.
- Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment, along with basic understanding of the upkeep and care of equipment.
- Understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe and efficient use.
- Ability to obtain YMCA Housekeeping Certificate within one (1) year of attaining position.
- Availability to work morning, afternoon, and evening weekday hours/shifts, or weekend afternoons and evening hours/shifts.
