Maintenance Worker II
Volunteers of America–Greater New York (VOA–Greater New York) is a leading anti-poverty organization serving neighbors in need across New York City, Northern New Jersey, and Westchester. Through 70+ programs, we support over 35,000 adults and children each year, including individuals experiencing homelessness, survivors of domestic violence, youth aging out of foster care, veterans, seniors, and children with developmental delays.
About the role
The Maintenance Worker II is responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of the building and grounds, including some minor repairs, and assists in managing the preventative maintenance program. This role supports the Horizon Program, comprised of scattered-site apartments located in the Bronx, which enables single adults and families to live independently within the community.
Responsibilities
- Clean and repair facility in accordance with the schedule.
- Assist in preparing facility areas for appropriate program use.
- Complete work orders.
- Accept and transport deliveries of supplies, furniture, and other program materials.
- Assist in inventory control.
- Assist in routine site safety inspections and preventive maintenance, which may include heating, refrigeration, boilers, plumbing units, equipment, and fixtures.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED.
- Two years of maintenance experience.
