About the role
Piramal Critical Care (PCC), a business unit of Piramal Pharma, is the fourth-largest producer of inhaled anesthetics and a global player in hospital generics. We deliver critical care solutions for patients and healthcare providers worldwide, maintaining a presence across the US, Europe, and over 100 countries. Our product portfolio includes Inhalation Anesthetics (Sevoflurane, Isoflurane, Halothane) and Intrathecal Baclofen therapy for spasticity management. We operate state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in the United States and India, inspected by the US FDA, UK MHRA, and other regulators.
Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair machinery, process equipment, utilities equipment, facility structures, motors, electrical components, instrumentation, and piping systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance (PMs) and set-ups/changeovers on packaging equipment.
- Monitor machinery to ensure efficient and reliable operation with minimal downtime, maintaining compliance with cGMPs.
- Document all work performed in log books/SAP and manage inventory of change parts/spare parts.
- Troubleshoot vision systems, serialization equipment, barcode readers, and PLCs.
- Collaborate with Engineering to install, troubleshoot, and improve packaging equipment.
- Propose and implement ideas to improve equipment efficiency and throughput.
- Assist packaging technicians on the line and prepare for scheduled packaging batch runs.
- Move materials within the finished goods warehouse area.
- Read and follow machine operation manuals and schematics.
- Utilize a computer for work-related tasks.
- Assist with other shop maintenance duties as needed.
- Be flexible with working hours and perform other duties as required.
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or technical school diploma (required).
- Associate Degree in Electromechanical Technology or equivalent certification (preferred).
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a pharmaceutical environment (required).
- Packaging line experience (preferred).
- cGMP experience (a plus).
- Strong technical background and mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting and repairing equipment.
- Experience with PLCs, HMIs, and pneumatics (required).
- Knowledge of serialization and electromechanical systems, including Servo and PLC-driven machinery.
- Familiarity with packaging machines (cartooning, labeling, liquid filling).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of electricity, basic electronics, hardware, and measuring instruments.
- Ability to read and comprehend electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical drawings.
- Ability to gown and work in protective gear as required by SOP.
- Familiarity with GMPs.
- Ability to operate a forklift (preferred).
