About the Role

Under the general supervision of the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Technician performs a variety of tasks related to the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of the hotel’s physical plant and equipment. This role ensures all systems and equipment function efficiently and the property meets safety, sanitation, and cleanliness standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties with exceptional caring and genuine guest service, upholding Oxford Collection of hotels standards and culture.
  • Safety & Preventative Maintenance (50%):
    • Conduct routine preventive maintenance for guest rooms, public areas, hotel equipment, and carpet care as scheduled.
    • Flip mattresses and move furniture as assigned.
    • Assist with preventative maintenance tasks such as replacing ceiling tiles, light bulbs, patching vinyl, and other basic repairs.
    • Refurbish furniture and fixtures within guest rooms, including cabinets, tables, chairs, doors, windows, and counters.
    • Paint and finish furniture and fixtures as needed.
    • Provide general grounds keeping services: trash removal, pool and spa maintenance, grounds upkeep, kitchen equipment cleaning, and security rounds.
    • Maintain organized work areas and equipment, ensuring sanitation and cleanliness standards and up-to-date equipment logs.
    • Respond to emergency situations and comply with federal, state, local, food safety, and sanitation requirements.
    • Report any maintenance repairs needed immediately to a supervisor or General Manager.
  • Maintenance Repairs (30%):
    • Maintain and repair the exterior and interior of the property using hand tools.
    • Paint or repair windows, doors, floors, woodwork, plaster, drywall, or other parts of building structures.
    • Troubleshoot and maintain plumbing systems and fixtures (pipelines, toilets, sinks, kitchen, and laundry equipment).
    • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including air conditioning controls, television sets, and lighting systems.
    • Service the hotel’s pool, including adjusting chemicals, cleaning filters, and maintaining record logs.
    • Maintain the building exterior and "curb appeal" (e.g., snow removal, lawn care, painting, and gardening).
    • Coordinate with Front Desk, bistro, and housekeeping departments regarding guest needs during shifts.
    • Assist property leadership in meeting company benchmarks for preventative maintenance, response time, and customer satisfaction.
  • Guest Relations (15%):
    • Engage with guests in a friendly, customer-focused manner to meet their needs and exceed expectations.
    • Address guest concerns promptly and professionally, assisting with issue resolution.
    • Maintain integrity, confidentiality, and sensitivity when working with guests.
  • Other (5%):
    • Communicate effectively with all hotel staff to ensure smooth service delivery.
    • Adhere to attendance policies and maintain regular availability for scheduled shifts.
    • May participate in the drivers program or other hotel-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • 1+ years of general maintenance experience preferred.
  • Experience and knowledge of plumbing, refrigeration, carpentry, electrical, and guest room repairs preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Reliable and consistent attendance.

Physical Requirements

  • Perform simple grasping, fine manipulation, and repetitive hand and arm movements frequently.
  • Bend, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, climb, and walk on uneven surfaces frequently.
  • Work outside in varied weather conditions (rain, wind, snow, heat).
  • Climb stairs and ladders both inside and outside frequently.
  • Lift 50 lbs. frequently and exert up to 20 pounds of force to push, pull, carry, lift, or move objects.
