This position is responsible for Operations and Maintenance of Alabama Power owned facilities and assets at the APCO Corporate Headquarters in downtown Birmingham, AL.

About the role

Responsibilities include the repair and preventive maintenance for building infrastructure, grounds, access control systems, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC (chillers) to provide safe and productive work environments. This technician must be self-motivated and able to operate within critical areas and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, repair, modify, and install equipment and systems to maintain a comfortable environment for customers.
  • Perform general inspections and preventive maintenance.
  • Ensure compliance with national/local codes and regulations to provide a safe, reliable work environment.
  • Maintain and clean equipment rooms, related equipment, and panels.
  • Maintain facility systems including electrical, HVAC, and plumbing (chillers, pumps, etc.).

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • Active State of Alabama Electrical Contractors License (proof required after application submission).
  • General experience and knowledge in HVAC/controls, electrical, and/or plumbing.
  • Vast knowledge of the following:
    • Commercial/industrial electrical maintenance, repair, and installation.
    • Electronic and pneumatic controls, equipment, and systems maintenance, repair, and installation.
    • Hydraulic equipment and systems maintenance, repair, and installation.
    • HVAC systems maintenance, repair, and installation of chillers and HVAC equipment.
    • Codes, e.g., NEC, OSHA, building, and plumbing.
  • NERC CIP Certification (required within the first 60 days of employment).
