Maintenance Technician - Madisonville, KY

About the Role

The Maintenance Mechanic position in Madisonville, Kentucky is responsible for maintaining the operating efficiency of mill equipment, repairing, and troubleshooting system and process upsets.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, ISO14000, and ISO9001:2000 standards and policies.
• Maintain and measure equipment performance to specification.
• Troubleshoot and implement corrective actions.
• Participate in Safety, Quality, and Production meetings with peers when required.
• Report to the job on time as scheduled and be willing to work any shift as needed, including following the “on-call” rotation process.
• Follow safe work practices and assist in the development of safe practices.
• Utilize trade skills such as rigging, welding, mechanical rebuilding, and installation of process equipment.
• Follow repair instructions to rebuild or install mechanical components such as pumps and gearboxes.
• Read and analyze task or project assignments to design and implement necessary repairs or replacements.
• Manage time and complete work assignments, work orders, and maintenance rounds.
• Learn new equipment, processes, and skills.
• Understand bearing, pump, motor, and gearbox operation.
• Perform mechanical tasks such as motor replacement, bearing installation, hydraulic and pneumatic repairs.
• Willingness to learn new mechanical and electrical skills.
• Actively participate in continuous improvement and housekeeping programs.
• Perform inventory counts and maintain area housekeeping.
• Participate in cross-training of personnel for efficiency optimization and personal multi-skills development.
• Safely drive and operate lifting equipment such as forklifts, fork trucks, and jib cranes.
• Support and assist in special projects and other duties as assigned.
• Work weekends and holidays as required.
• Be on call 24/7 to work on machinery and answer questions about plant machinery.
• Carry a company cell phone if required.
• Work any shift, rotation, or off-shift as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree preferred.
• Four to six years of relevant experience.
• Mathematical and mechanical aptitude.
• High degree of self-motivation.
• Great verbal and written communication skills.
• Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and company software.

Physical Demands

• Ability to see, hear, talk, sit, stand, and walk.
• Frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
• Required to bend, stoop, and lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to walk and stand for an 8-12 hour shift on various hard surfaces and elevations.
• Ability to work in hot or cold environments, both indoors and outdoors, in a manufacturing production setting with exposure to moving mechanical parts.
• Ability to climb in overhead structures, work beneath machines, and in close quarters performing analysis, assessments, and repair work.
