About the Role
Conemaugh Miners Medical Center is part of Lifepoint Health, a diversified healthcare delivery network with facilities coast to coast. As a Maintenance Mechanic, you will support the daily operations of the hospital's physical plant by performing preventative maintenance, repairs, and inspections of facility systems and equipment. This role ensures the hospital environment remains safe, functional, and compliant with regulatory standards, including those established by The Joint Commission and Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance, inspection, and repair of hospital facilities and building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and utility infrastructure to ensure safe and reliable operations.
- Execute preventative maintenance activities in accordance with the facility's maintenance management program and regulatory standards.
- Respond to maintenance service requests and work orders in a timely manner while minimizing disruption to patient care, clinical operations, and hospital services.
- Assist with facility improvement projects including alterations, remodeling, minor construction, and equipment installation in compliance with hospital policies and safety procedures.
- Support fire and life safety programs by participating in inspections, drills, and corrective actions in accordance with regulatory and accreditation requirements.
- Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, preventative maintenance schedules, equipment inspections, and completed work orders.
- Collaborate with Plant Operations leadership and other departments to ensure compliance with safety policies, emergency preparedness procedures, and applicable regulatory standards.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of two (2) years of maintenance experience required; experience in a hospital or healthcare facility preferred.
- Working knowledge of building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical equipment.
- Familiarity with healthcare regulatory and safety standards, including those from The Joint Commission, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration preferred.
- Basic computer skills for work order systems, maintenance tracking, and documentation.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, safety procedures, and maintenance instructions.
- Ability to safely operate maintenance tools and equipment and perform physical tasks such as lifting, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces as required.
