About the Role

Engage in repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, equipment, and utility systems in a manufacturing plant. This role involves maintaining buildings, grounds, and equipment, either personally or by supervising subordinates.

Responsibilities

• Work on work order requests from the production floor and determine priority.
• Follow all safety and good manufacturing processes.
• Communicate equipment breakdowns and estimated repair times to production and quality assurance teams.
• Provide updates to incoming maintenance personnel on the status of breakdowns, repairs, and troubleshooting from the previous shift.
• Observe and listen to mechanical devices in operation to locate signs of trouble.
• Dismantle devices to access and remove defective parts.
• Repair or replace defective parts and install special functional or structural components.
• Lubricate and clean parts, equipment, and machinery.
• Test and adjust equipment to meet performance specifications.
• Set up and operate lathe, drill press, grinder, saws, and other metalworking tools to fabricate and repair parts.
• Initiate purchase orders for parts and machines.
• Repair electrical equipment, including PC controllers.
• Maintain a flexible schedule to accommodate variable shifts from 8 to 12 hours, depending on maintenance workload.
• Available for on-call status.
• Participate and train with the Safety Team.
• Perform other similar or related duties as requested or assigned.

Requirements

• Vocational/Technical Degree in plant maintenance or 5+ years of experience in plant maintenance.
• Forklift certification and NEC Electrical knowledge.
• Experience with:
  • Hydraulics
  • Electrical wiring (110, 220, 480)
  • Water pumps
  • Industrial burners
  • TIG welding, stick welding, and MIG welding
  • Industrial air compressors
  • Carpentry skills
  • Knowledge of gas applications
• Qualified electrician experience is beneficial.

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
• Regularly required to walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Occasionally required to sit, taste, or smell.
• Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 lbs, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 lbs.
• Regularly required to work at heights.
• Specific vision abilities required include close and distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• Must be able to work 8-hour shifts regularly, with occasional extended shifts up to 12 hours.
