Schedule
Monday through Thursday, 2nd Shift: 3:00 PM – 2:00 AM (+ $1.00 shift differential)
Responsibilities
- Inspect, repair, modify, paint, clean, and maintain all areas of facility and grounds following Good Manufacturing Practices and food safety requirements to ensure production of safe, quality products and a clean, safe environment for plant operation
- Assist with production equipment maintenance, preventative maintenance, parts ordering, and troubleshooting
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain all equipment including refrigeration, production equipment, and building equipment
- Assist in training employees on operation of equipment
- Provide continual support to production, assembly, packaging, and warehouse
- Maintain a preventative maintenance (PM) program with supporting documentation
- Familiar with Continuous Improvement; continually improve operations and eliminate downtime
- Develop and implement improvements to daily operations
- 100% on-floor time (includes production floor, shop, outside of building, etc.)
- Work safely at all times and use GMPs
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High school degree required; 1 to 3 years plant maintenance experience
- 2-year trades degree preferred
- Electrical print reading, motor controls experience, and welding/fabrication experience necessary
- Experience with food/USDA facilities a plus
- Basic math skills
- Attention to detail
- Legible record-keeping and data entry skills using a computer
- Highly motivated, flexible, with creative problem-solving abilities
- Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Qualifications
- Read, write, and speak English; bilingual capabilities a plus
- Able to communicate and take direction from direct supervisor and/or production supervisor
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, crouch, and work at heights from floor level to 30 feet above floor (includes ladders and lift equipment)
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 60 pounds with hoist, pallet-jack, or cart
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
Work Environment
- Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts
- Multi-shift production operations may be expansive, noisy, wet/humid, and vary in temperature from refrigerated to ambient or warm in summer months
- Required to work shift work and weekends
