About the role
The Maintenance Technician at one of Oxford’s boutique-style or luxury hotels ensures the hotel’s facilities, guest rooms, and public areas remain in top operational condition through routine maintenance, repairs, and preventive care of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems. This role supports the overall guest experience by maintaining a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environment across the property. The position requires a proactive, detail-oriented individual capable of resolving maintenance issues efficiently while upholding Oxford Collection’s service and quality standards, striving to meet and exceed Four-Star service standards.
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine preventive maintenance for guest rooms, public areas, hotel equipment, and carpet care as scheduled.
- Flip mattresses, repair and move furniture, and make suggestions for removal or replacement to ensure quality items are presented to guests.
- Assist with preventative maintenance tasks such as replacing ceiling tiles, light bulbs, patching vinyl, and other basic repairs.
- Refurbish furniture and fixtures within guest rooms, including cabinets, tables, chairs, doors, windows, and counters; paint and finish as needed.
- Provide general grounds keeping services: trash removal, pool and spa maintenance, grounds upkeep, kitchen equipment cleaning and service, and security rounds.
- Maintain organized work areas and equipment in alignment with sanitation and cleanliness standards; ensure equipment operating logs are up to date.
- Respond to emergency situations and perform all tasks in compliance with federal, state, local, food safety, and sanitation requirements.
- Report any maintenance repairs needed immediately to supervisors or the General Manager.
- Ensure all guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities are in top operational condition using hand tools for repairs.
- Troubleshoot and perform maintenance on plumbing systems, electrical systems (including HVAC controls, lighting, and television sets), and pool systems (adjusting chemicals, cleaning filters, maintaining logs).
- Maintain the building exterior to uphold Four Diamond curb appeal.
- Coordinate with Front Desk, bistro, and housekeeping departments regarding guest needs during shifts.
- Complete work with minimal guest disruptions, consistent with a Four Diamond Luxury experience.
- Engage with guests in a polished, professional, and customer-focused manner, ensuring their needs are met per Forbes service standards.
- Respond promptly to guest and staff maintenance requests, prioritizing tasks based on urgency.
- Address guest concerns promptly and professionally, using Oxford Collection’s guest recovery and service gestures.
- Communicate effectively with all hotel staff to ensure smooth service delivery.
- Adhere to attendance policies and maintain regular availability for scheduled shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- May participate in the drivers program or other hotel-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
- Reliable transportation to and from work.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Reliable and consistent attendance.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- 2+ years of general maintenance experience preferred.
- Experience and knowledge of plumbing, refrigeration, carpentry, electrical, and other guest room repairs preferred.

- Perform simple grasping, fine manipulation, and repetitive hand and arm movements frequently.
- Bend, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, climb, and walk on uneven surfaces frequently.
- Work outside in varied weather conditions (rain, wind, snow, heat).
- Climb stairs and ladders both inside and outside frequently.
- Lift 50 lbs. frequently and often exert up to 20 pounds of force to push, pull, carry, lift, or move objects.
