Maintenance Technician - Commercial Laundry Linen Service

About the role
Maintenance Technicians/Engineers are responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining large industrial textile processing equipment, as well as facility maintenance. Tasks include start-up and shut-down procedures, troubleshooting, clearing jams, maintaining and operating boilers, welding and cutting, hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical, and other systems. This position reports to the Chief Engineer.
Responsibilities
- Installs, repairs, and performs preventative maintenance on industrial processing equipment such as washers, dryers, ironers, water systems, and other equipment and systems.
- Responds to daily maintenance requests in a timely fashion to minimize equipment downtime.
- Conducts preventive maintenance programs and keeps maintenance records.
- Performs machine startup for each shift, observing mechanical operation to determine efficiency and to detect problems.
- Installs, replaces, or changes machine parts and attachments, according to specifications.
- Maintains, repairs, tests, and installs electrical motors, hydraulic, and pneumatic electrical control systems.
- Dismantles machines and removes parts for repair, using hand tools, chain falls, jacks, cranes, or hoists.
- Cleans machines and machine parts.
- Records production, repair, and machine maintenance information.
- Communicates to Chief Engineer and Plant Manager the status of down machines and any parts that need ordered in order to repair machinery.
- Adheres to all safety rules and regulations and promotes a culture of safety.
Requirements
- 4+ years of industrial/manufacturing maintenance experience is required.
- Knowledge of electronics and basic PLC programming.
- Experience in carpentry, boiler repair, welding, and general facility repairs.
- Commercial Laundry (Linen/Uniform) experience is preferred.
- Proficient in the proper use of power and hand tools.
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics.
- Basic plumbing/pipefitting experience.
- Boiler license preferred, or ability to obtain.
- Must be a team player with enthusiasm, initiative, and pride in work well done; self-starter dedicated to continual quality improvement.
Schedule
Day shift, Monday-Thursday (4 day work week, 10 hour shifts). Approximately 5am-3:30pm.
Pay
Very competitive compensation: $38-45/hour, negotiable depending on your experience.
