About the role

As a Maintenance Technician, you will assist in the general operational maintenance and repair of the community’s physical location. You will also communicate and help coordinate necessary tasks to accomplish repairs to building and equipment systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general maintenance work on community equipment, buildings, and grounds (e.g., equipment repairs, apartment painting).
  • Understand HVAC and other mechanical systems and properly maintain them.
  • Conduct daily inspections of the building, grounds, and equipment, performing necessary maintenance and repairs.
  • Perform proactive preventative maintenance as scheduled and record data in preventative maintenance logs.
  • Help ensure other team members follow established safety practices (OSHA).
  • Follow the established work order system.
  • Participate in in-service training as required by state regulations.
  • Maintain the general appearance of the building, including assisting with event setup and cleanup.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 3 years of prior work experience in maintenance.
  • Experience in property management, lodging, or Senior Living/Assisted Living/Memory Care is a plus.
  • Excellent mechanical skills (HVAC, electrical, carpentry, plumbing, painting, etc.).
  • Strong communication skills with the Maintenance Director, staff, residents, prospects, and vendors.
  • Excellent customer service for residents, families, and prospects, promoting the community positively.
  • Ability to diagnose maintenance problems and resolve issues within budget.
  • Basic computer familiarity.

Working Conditions

The Maintenance Technician works within the Senior Living Community and its grounds. The role may involve:

  • Exposure to residents, which may include communicable diseases, infections, or potential injury from transferring, repositioning, or lifting residents.
  • Exposure to latex, blood-borne pathogens, chemicals, infectious or biological hazards, and pets.
  • Exposure to hot/cold temperatures, adverse weather, wet/humid conditions, toxic fumes, odors, pathogens, dusts, and pollens.

Weekend availability is required. The schedule for this position is 10 AM to 6 PM.
